Charlotte FC's most recent performance was summed up bluntly by their Head Coach Dean Smith in the post-match presser. "That wasn't an MLS game out there. I think that's possibly the worst game I've seen since I've come over to the USA" said a frustrated Smith at the time.

While the performance overall was not near up to par there are still a couple of specific things to note from the game that are worth mentioning in our stock up, stock down segment.

Stock Up

JoĆ£o Pedro - Pedro earned his sixth start with Charlotte FC since signing his First Team contract this past winter. For many fans, Jere Uronen is likely considered one of Charlotte's best players, so for the young Brazilian to have carved himself a rotational role speaks volumes to the potential Smith sees in him. Pedro shines in his ability to get forward and create with his stronger left foot and was one of the few to demonstrate any creating ability on Saturday.

Stock Down

Chance creation - Charlotte's lack of chance-creating ability was glaringly obvious after this most recent performance. Ashley Westwood's really strong past couple of weeks and the return of Karol Świderski clouded the concern for a short period, but it looks like chance creation is their greatest shortcoming.

When the Crown has 10 shots or less they are 3-2-8 in all competitions. When they get 11 or more shots they are 7-5-1. The team has gotten 10 shots or less 50% of the time this year. The team is clearly missing some attacking volume in the chance department, and until that is fixed the ceiling of the team will have its limits.

Summary

Charlotte will have an opportunity to redeem themselves on Wednesday against a familiar Liga MX foe. With two of three teams advancing out of the group stage, a win could secure a spot in the knockout rounds.
