Was this Kerwin Vargas' last game at Bank of America Stadium?

Two weeks ago, we reported that Kerwin Vargas was on the move this summer, specifically to Athletico Paranaense. The first report we found for this news was from Tiago Marchezini.

After Vargas' goal last night, other reports surfaced that suggested this was one of the Colombian's last matches for Charlotte FC as he prepares for his next move to Paranaense.

We also recorded a clip of Vargas wearing his emotions quite publicly after the 2-2 draw last night, with players, especially Ashley Westwood, consoling him.

In the post-match presser, Vargas also said that he did not want to comment on whether he was planning to leave the Black and Blue, but he did say that more news should be coming soon. He also let it slip that he "will miss the fans".

Charlotte's Captain mentioned in his presser that obviously they would like Vargas to stay, but these are things above his pay grade.

Westwood also mentioned the need to get reinforcements in quickly to make up for a thinning roster.

While nothing has been confirmed, it seems like things are getting close to the Colombian moving on, and there is a chance yesterday was the last time Vargas plays at Bank of America Stadium. At the very least, an MLS game since the Crown's next home MLS game isn't until August 15 against the Columbus Crew.

With Vargas' goal last night, the winger has seven goal contributions on the season (4g/3a) and has 35 goal contributions (23g/12a) in his Charlotte career in all competitions. He joined the club in the spring of 2022.
