According to sources, Charlotte FC is signing former Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré on a short-term deal as a free agent. Dean Smith told media yesterday that the club was looking to bring in an attacking minded player who could connect the midfield to the forward line. Doucouré spent five seasons at Everton tallying 21 goals and 15 assists in all-competitions during that time.
The veteran midfielder has been on trial this past week. Smith told media that his trial showed that he still had some work to do fitness wise but that the aim is to have him ready to help with depth during the final stretch of the season and for a playoff run.
