Charlotte FC's Injury Pulse: Week 1

With a week before the first matchday at the Bank, the training staff have done a good job of keeping the squad healthy going into the season.

The Crown played Portland Timbers on February 15, resulting in a 2-0 win with goals from Tyger Smalls and Kerwin Vargas. Pep Biel was subbed after 60 minutes but it was only for rotation. Keeping Biel healthy will be essential to ball progression for Charlotte throughout the season, as he averages 4.26 progressive passes per game and 3.96 progressive carries per 90 minutes (per fbref). Manager Dean Smith revealed in his press conference on February 20 that Biel was “ready to go.”

Regarding other injuries of note Brandon Cambridge, Patrick Agyemang, and Jahlane Forbes seem to be dealing with problems. Patrick Agyemang was listed on Charlotte FC’s status report as questionable due to an ankle injury from training but Smith reported he is back running.

There is not a lot of information regarding the injuries to Cambridge and Forbes besides Smith mentioning them in the press conference on Thursday. Both injuries seem to be hamstring-related and relatively minor. Any updates will be sent out as soon as we know more.

As of now, there is no other injury-related news on the squad. Everyone else is healthy, but stay tuned to our website and social media accounts for the latest on the squad.
