According to sources, Charlotte FC is looking to part ways with midfielder Chris Hegardt after two seasons with the club. The young midfielder is not in the team's long-term plan, per a source. A deal with USL side Loudoun United is close to being finalized. Hegardt will join former teammate Koa Santos until the end of the season.
With the arrival of multiple senior reinforcements in midfield and multiple other promising prospects at Crown Legacy like David Poreba, Philip Mayaka, and Nikola PetkoviÄ, it appears that the 21-year-old is no longer in the plans of Head Coach Christian Lattanzio.
Hegardt appeared in seven matches for the senior team, three of which were in the US Open Cup. Hegardt also made seven appearances with Crown Legacy FC. The young midfielder arrived from the Seattle Sounders Academy in a trade for $50,000 GAM in January 2022.
