A deeper look into Nimfasha Berchimas' foot injury
By Andrew Crowell

Per Caroll Walton of the Charlotte Ledger, Nimfasha Berchimas, 17, underwent surgery on March 6 for a broken bone in his foot.
The injury is thought to have occurred during a preseason friendly. Although he was supposed to start the season with Crown Legacy FC, Berchimas was also listed on the Charlotte FC first-team roster.
Bones of the foot include the tarsals, metatarsals, and phalanges. Although it is not known which bone was fractured for the young Charlotte starlet, the most common fracture site in the foot is usually along the fifth metatarsal on the outside of the foot. A fracture at this location is known as a Jones fracture. This injury occurs when force is applied on the outside of your foot with your foot twisting away from your body. These forces most commonly occur during sports, falls, and overuse over time.
Walton also reported the winger will be out for 12 weeks which is in line for a recovery from surgery plus some rehabilitation time. Bone fractures take 6-8 weeks to fully heal and then the rehab process will include working ankle range of motion, ankle and foot strength, and weight-bearing.
