Charlotte FC To Host The Revolution And Play The First MLS Game In St. Louis To Start 2023
By Brian Maurer
Today Charlotte FC's schedule will be announced. They will play host to the New England Revolution on February 25th. In 2022 Charlotte won their first game ever against the Revolution. 2023 gives the Black and Blues the opportunity to get their first win of the season against the same team. The only notable move that New England has made so far this year compared to last is they signed former USMNT striker, Bobby Wood, through the Re-Entry draft.
For week 2, Charlotte will get to play St. Louis City SC away. Charlotte are going to make MLS history by being the first regular season MLS opponent St. Louis welcomes to their new stadium. So far, St. Louis have targeted the Bundesliga as a primary source for roster building, although they have started to fill out other spots more recently through the expansion draft, free agency, and interleague trades. The loudest noise the club has made, so far, during their roster build has been the massive salary they offered to their keeper, Roman BĆ¼rki. This match should be a highly anticipated early season game as it is a clash of the two newest expansion clubs. Similar to the match between Charlotte FC and Austin FC last season.
Charlotte FC's first games:
Saturday, February 25th - Charlotte FC vs. New England Revolution
Saturday, March 4th - St. Louis City SC vs. Charlotte FC
That stadium in St. Louis looks amazing.
