Charlotte FC Stock Up, Stock Down: Toklomati continues to shine as Charlotte makes It 8 wins in a row.

The bullet train that is Charlotte FC just never stops. Eight straight wins now for the Crown; not just home-cooking but also taking their performances on the road. The team has never been this hot.

After the Revolution stole three points from Charlotte in their trip to the Bank earlier in the season, Charlotte looked for revenge in Gillette Stadium and found it, with a 2-1 win courtesy of an Idan Toklomati game-winner.

It’s unbelievable the impact of the 20-year-old Israeli since he has replaced Patrick Agyemang in the starting striker role for the Crown. 

Despite injuring his hamstring in an interesting goal celebration, Toklomati has been emphatic for the team.

Another star has been revealed in the Queen City, and his winner has propelled Charlotte FC into third place in the Eastern Conference.

Here are the players whose stock went up or down after Charlotte's 2-1 win Saturday night:

Stock Up:

Idan Toklomati

Charlotte FC needed a moment of magic to secure the 6th-longest win streak in MLS history, and Toklomati provided that with his towering header.

Coming from a great Ashley Westwood free kick, Idan rose above all the New England defenders to secure victory in the 87th minute.

Toklomati has an engine that never stops; his energy is contagious. He has the short-term memory a striker should have, making run after run until it pays off.

His aerial ability was something I noticed watching his highlights from his time in the Israeli leagues before joining Charlotte. He is not the tallest striker, but he has the vertical ability to rise for headers above center backs.

Toklomati’s stock continues to rise as Charlotte FC rise in the table.

Ashley Westwood

Westwood had a great game, with 89% passing, two chances created, two tackles won, four recoveries, and an assist.

This was a classic Westwood performance, being the heartbeat for the team and coming up big with his beautiful cross into Toklomati for the game-winner.

The Englishman’s confidence has to be sky high as Charlotte FC pushes towards the playoffs, riding an eight-game winning streak.

Brandt Bronico

Bronico stepped up big with his headed goal in the first half to give Charlotte FC an early lead.

While his advanced stats weren’t mind-blowing, he was in the right place at the right time for the goal and helped the team secure the win with his defensive actions.

Similar to Toklomati, Bronico also has energy and stamina that is incredibly impressive. 

Kerwin Vargas

While Zaha has definitely stepped up as a creator in the absence of Pep Biel, I think Vargas is the player who has improved his play more than anyone.

Vargas received an incredible pass from Zaha and headed it across the goal to set up Bronico for the opener.

Vargas has chosen the perfect time to step up his play during this win streak. When he is playing his best, the front three with Toklomati and Zaha is one of the best in the MLS.

Stock Down

Kristijan Kahlina

While Kahlina delivered an overall solid performance, his costly blunder allowed New England to equalize in the first half. The Croatian shot-stopper will need to keep proving why he deserves the No. 1 spot at Charlotte FC, especially with new arrival Drake Callender pushing for minutes.
