Charlotte FC is reportedly in advanced talks with French-born Malian international Moussa Diarra. Diarra has been with Toulouse since 2018 making 23 appearances in Ligue 1 last season. Diarra primarily plays left-back but is capable of playing at center-back, as well as stepping into defensive midfield. Manager Christian Lattanzio likely sees this profile as a perfect fit for his system. Diarra is an athletic defender who can occupy the middle of the pitch while in possession. He has provided four assists in his 78 total appearances with Toulouse FC. Diarra would likely fill a defensive hole in the team and is flexible to play multiple roles. Diarra has one cap with the Mali international team, where he played as a left center-back.
The potential transfer was originally reported by Sébastien Denis of FootMercato. According to Denis, Leicester City, Salzburg, and other teams are interested in the defender's talents, but Charlotte FC leads the way at the moment.
